In today’s smart living era, combining your Tesla with your smart home setup isn’t just cool — it’s seriously useful. Especially if you’re living in a landed property in Singapore, the possibilities for seamless automation are endless. In this article, I’ll share how I integrated my Tesla Model 3 Highland with Homey Pro and other smart home devices like DoorBird, and the real automations that make life easier.

Why Integrate Homey Pro and Tesla?
For landed homeowners, having an autogate, porch lights, and driveway sensors is already common. But with a Tesla, you can take things up a notch. By integrating Tesla with your smart home platform like Homey Pro, you can:
Automate your autogate to open as you arrive
Get reminders to charge your car before bed
Receive visual cues when public charging is done
Enhance security and convenience through systems like DoorBird
It’s not about showing off tech. It’s about simplifying routines and creating a smarter lifestyle.
Step-by-Step: Connecting Tesla to Homey Pro
Install the Tesla app on Homey Pro — via Homey Community Store.
Generate your Tesla Fleet API token — tools like Tesla Tokens can help.
Paste the token in the Tesla app settings in Homey.
Your Tesla will now appear as a device in Homey, giving you access to data like battery level, charging state, driving/parked state, gear, and location.
Note: The Tesla app uses polling, so updates may lag by up to 1 minute. Keep this in mind when designing automations that rely on real-time status.

Real Automation Ideas for Tesla Smart Home Owners
1. Coming Home Routine
Trigger: Tesla status = Driving home
Action: Open autogate, turn on porch lights, prepare driveway.
Trigger 2: Tesla gear = Park
Action: Close autogate after you’ve parked.
2. Leaving Home Routine
Trigger: Charging state changes to Disconnected
Action: Open autogate so you can drive out seamlessly.
The following ideas are especially useful for Tesla owners who rely on public chargers:
3. Low Battery TTS Reminder
Trigger: Battery < 25% at night
Action: Google Home TTS: “Your Tesla needs charging.”
4. Public Charger Idle Alert
Trigger: Charging state = Complete, location ≠ home
Action: Flash a smart bulb near the door as a visual reminder.
And here's the dream for every Tesla owner:
5. Voice Control via Google Assistant or Siri
Use voice commands to check battery levels, trigger flows (like opening the frunk or trunk), or ask for charge status.
Seamless control over Tesla-related routines just by speaking from your phone, watch, or smart speaker.
Conclusion
A Tesla isn’t just a car — it’s a smart device on wheels. Pairing it with Homey Pro and smart home systems like DoorBird opens up automation possibilities tailored to the way you live, especially if you’re in a landed home.
